Apple Japan To Replace Overheating IPod Batteries

Law360, New York (August 11, 2010, 3:13 PM EDT) -- In response to criticism from the Japanese government, Apple Inc.'s Japan unit has said it will replace faulty batteries in iPod nano music players that can overheat and cause fires.

In a brief statement on its website Tuesday, Apple Japan Inc. acknowledged "very rare cases of overheating" that warped or discolored some first-generation iPod nanos sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
