Fla. Shipper Sentenced To Probation In Oil Records Case

Law360, New York (August 16, 2010, 12:47 PM EDT) -- Coastal Shipping Holding LLC has been sentenced to three years' probation and will make $700,000 in total payments in a plea agreement with federal prosecutors over charges that the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., cargo shipper failed to maintain accurate oil records for one of its vessels.

The company agreed to a $350,000 civil penalty and a $350,000 community service payment that will fund environmental and restoration projects, Judge James I. Cohn said Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
