Rivals Sue Stewart Title Over $244M Wind Farm Policy

Law360, New York (August 16, 2010, 2:24 PM EDT) -- A pair of land title insurers have accused Stewart Title Insurance Co. of unlawfully dipping below its filed premium rate in order to steal a would-be client, interfering with a $244 million policy commitment to insure land leases for wind turbine construction.

First American Title Co. of Montana Inc. and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Co. lodged a complaint Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, claiming Stewart violated a state statute requiring it to maintain a consistent threshold for premiums.
