MSHA To 'Beef Up' Ventilation Enforcement Effort

Law360, New York (August 17, 2010, 4:18 PM EDT) -- Federal mine safety inspectors are being instructed to crack down on mine operators that violate ventilation requirements amid concerns that poor ventilation led to the deadly blast at Massey Energy Co. in April.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration on Monday released four bulletins to remind inspectors, mine operators and miners’ representatives of the mandatory standards.
