Mirapex Compulsive Gambling Suits To Remain MDL

Law360, New York (August 20, 2010, 2:39 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has declined to remand the remaining cases in a multidistrict litigation accusing Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Pfizer Inc. of failing to warn consumers about the Parkinson’s disease drug Mirapex’s potential to cause compulsive gambling.

In an order filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, Judge James Rosenbaum said the plaintiffs showed good cause that a suggestion of remand was premature and refused to dissolve the MDL, even though a majority of the plaintiffs have settled their cases....
