US Fights Part Of WTO Airbus Subsidies Ruling

Law360, New York (August 19, 2010, 7:10 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government is appealing two aspects of a World Trade Organization finding that subsidies paid to Airbus SAS by European governments ran afoul of WTO rules — a decision the U.S. hailed as a victory when it came down.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said Thursday it is fighting the WTO’s June 30 finding that European loans to Airbus for building new aircraft, or launch-aid loans, weren’t part of a regular program to assist the aircraft giant.
