Kroes Plans To Inspect Visa Fees

Law360 (February 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- E.U. Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes plans to open an investigation into Visa’s business methods for setting interchange fees next year when an antitrust exemption on the credit card company expires.

The European Commission scrutinized Visa’s interchange fees on credit and debit card transactions and reached an agreement in 2002, but Visa’s exemption from E.U. antitrust action runs out at the end of December.
