SCO Group Gets OK To Sell Software Business

Law360, New York (August 24, 2010, 11:52 AM EDT) -- Bankrupt SCO Group Inc. has received court permission to sell off its software business, following the company's loss in a copyright suit against Novell Inc. over the rights to the Unix operating system.

Judge Kevin Gross of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Monday authorized the marketing, auction and sale of substantially all of SCO's software business assets.

Judge Gross set an Oct. 5 deadline for submitting competing bids. The auction itself will take place Oct. 25.
