USPTO Unveils Public Patent Tracking System

Law360 (August 4, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In what the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office hails as a “major milestone,” the agency has launched a system to allow users to track the status of a public patent application online as it moves from publication to final disposition.

Under the new system, dubbed Public PAIR (patent application and information retrieval), internet users may review documents in the official application file, including all decisions made by patent examiners and their reasons for making them.
