Wyeth Loses 2nd Prempro Trial; Jury Awards $3M

Law360, New York (February 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Wyeth Pharmaceuticals has lost a second trial in Philadelphia over the controversial hormone replacement therapy, Prempro, with a jury awarding a breast cancer sufferer and her husband $3 million.

After a five-week hearing, the nine-member jury found that Prempro, a drug used by millions of post-menopausal woman, was responsible for Jennie Nelson’s cancer and that Wyeth failed to sufficiently warn users of the risks.
