EPA Sued Over Permits For Cape Cod Runoff

Law360, New York (August 25, 2010, 1:52 PM EDT) -- Environmental regulators have failed to adhere to the Clean Water Act and let septic systems and wastewater treatment facilities throughout Cape Cod, Mass., pollute coastal waters, according to a new lawsuit.

The complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, claims the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency unlawfully approved discharge permits for numerous sites on the cape, authorizing excessive nitrogen pollution that threatens the health of the region’s bays.
