Int'l Paper, BNSF To Pay $4M Over Minn. Superfund Site

Law360, New York (August 26, 2010, 6:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reached a settlement with several companies, including International Paper Co. and Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s BNSF Railway Co., over a $4 million cleanup bill for a Superfund site in northern Minnesota.

Under proposed consent decrees filed Thursday by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Justice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, International Paper, BNSF and Cass Forest Products Inc. will reimburse the federal government for the $4 million it has spent cleaning up the former industrial...
