RICO Claims Trimmed In Kids-For-Cash Kickback Suit

Law360, New York (August 26, 2010, 1:53 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has trimmed civil racketeering and other claims against two judges accused of taking more than $2.8 million in kickbacks to steer juvenile offenders to a new private detention center in Pennsylvania.

Judge A. Richard Caputo found that former juvenile delinquent Raul Clark does not have standing to bring a civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act claim against the judges because he wasn't financially harmed, according to an order Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
