EPA Orders PCB Cleanup At Former GM Plant In NY

Law360, New York (August 27, 2010, 2:40 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ordered Motors Liquidation Co., the liquidating remnant of General Motors Corp., to remove materials contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls from the site of a former GM plant in Massena, N.Y.

The administrative order signed Aug. 18 compels MLC to properly handle PCB-contaminated materials and soil in connections with its planned demolition of several buildings at the site. The demolition is slated to begin as soon as Sept. 1, the order said.
