CFTC Advises DOJ On Antitrust Probe Into CME Group

Law360, New York (August 27, 2010, 3:42 PM EDT) -- Attorneys at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission have reportedly begun informal talks with the U.S. Department of Justice over the futures market regulator's antitrust probe into CME Group Inc.

The DOJ has offered the CFTC some advice on its investigation into possible anti-competitive aspects of CME Group's decision to ban a particular type of U.S. Treasury futures transaction from its markets, but the CFTC is still the agency leading the inquiry, Dow Jones reported Friday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
