Fla. AG Blasts BP Spill Claims Process

Law360, New York (August 27, 2010, 6:16 PM EDT) -- Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum is worried the claims handling process for victims of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill will lead to “unnecessary litigation,” and has asked BP PLC and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to scrutinize the system.

McCollum wrote Holder and BP's U.S. general counsel John Lynch on Friday, saying that the current payment protocol developed for the Gulf Coast Claims Facility by veteran mediator Kenneth R. Feinberg “may well hamper injured parties as they seek to be made whole.”
