Dr. Reddy's Hit With Failure-To-Warn Suit Over Cipro

Law360, New York (September 1, 2010, 5:58 PM EDT) -- A woman has accused Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. of failing to adequately warn that its generic version of the antibiotic ciprofloxacin could cause a rare skin disease that killed her husband.

In a suit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of North Carolina, Gloria Dooms alleges that the generic-drug maker's package insert for ciprofloxacin minimized the risk that the drug could trigger life-threatening illnesses that cause sores and up to 100 percent skin peeling on the body.
