EU Sets New Deadline On Syngenta, Monsanto Probe

Law360, New York (September 3, 2010, 3:11 PM EDT) -- The European Commission has pushed back the deadline for its investigation into Syngenta AG's $160 million offer for Monsanto Co.'s hybrid sunflower seed business while regulators consider proposed solutions to the competition concerns that sparked the probe.

The commission previously had 90 working days, until Oct. 26, to make a final decision on whether to approve the deal. The new provisional deadline is Nov. 25, according to information on the commission’s website.
