LendingTree Sues To Protect Mortgage Patent

Law360, New York (September 9, 2010, 12:19 PM EDT) -- LendingTree LLC has launched a patent infringement suit against five operators of websites that match borrowers with mortgage lenders, accusing them of ripping off its loan comparison-shopping system.

The suit, lodged on behalf of LendingTree by Corby C. Anderson and Steven N. Baker of McGuireWoods LLP in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina on Wednesday, accuses the defendants of infringing a patent-protected system that “changed the home mortgage industry forever” when LendingTree introduced it to the market in the early 2000s....
