US Steelworkers Target China Over Green Tech Aid

Law360, New York (September 10, 2010, 11:16 AM EDT) -- The United Steelworkers union filed a massive petition on Thursday with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative claiming that China is using cutthroat trade practices that could endanger America's green-energy industry.

The 5,800-page petition alleges that China has become a dominant supplier of green technology by spending hundreds of billions on subsidies and by employing performance requirements and preferential practices, in violation of its obligations to the World Trade Organization.
