Shipyard Deal Brings End To Wash. Contribution Case

Law360, New York (September 10, 2010, 6:09 PM EDT) -- Todd Shipyards Corp. has become the sixth and final defendant to settle a Superfund contribution case, paying the Port of Tacoma, Wash., nearly $2.18 million as partial reimbursement for the costs of cleaning up hazardous substances in the tide flats of Commencement Bay.

Judge Benjamin H. Settle of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington approved the settlement Thursday, saying it was fair and consistent with the purposes of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.
