Alaska Gov. Says DOI Illegally Banned Arctic Drilling

Law360, New York (September 10, 2010, 11:59 AM EDT) -- Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell has filed suit against the U.S. Department of the Interior, claiming it issued an illegal ban on exploratory oil drilling in the Arctic despite previous support for the practice.

The Republican governor filed a petition Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska for a writ of mandamus requiring the department to abandon a moratorium on drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf off the coast of Alaska.
