OFS Sues Alcatel Over Optical Fiber Patents

Law360 (October 29, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- OFS parent company Fitel USA filed a lawsuit against Alcatel in the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, alleging patent infringement, the company said in a statement.

The dispute concerns optical fibers adapted for operation in "metro" systems utilizing dual bands including wavelength-division multiplexing capabilities in each band, and to wavelength-division multiplexing optical communications systems that utilize this type of optical fiber.
