Insurer, Broker Targeted In Kickback Probe

Law360 (February 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Connecticut’s Attorney General has issued subpoenas to a local insurer and a broker as part of its investigation into broker commissions, bonuses and other financial agreements between insurance providers and the agencies that sell their policies.

The subpoenas were sent to Middlesex Mutual Assurance Co., a Connecticut-based insurance provider, and H.D. Segur Inc., a Connecticut insurance agency, by State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal last month as part of an investigation into antitrust violations that have cost insurance companies $500 million in restitution and fines in states...
