EU Court Urged To Nix Repsol Rubber Cartel Appeal

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 4:07 PM EDT) -- An adviser to the European Union's highest court has recommended upholding a €3.4 million ($4.9 million) rubber cartel fine against Repsol YPF SA and two subsidiaries despite finding fault with a lower court's review of the case.

Advocate General Jan Mazak urged the European Court of Justice on Tuesday to set aside the lower court's judgment holding Spanish energy companies Repsol YPF, Repsol Quimica SA and General Quimica SA jointly and severally responsible for General Quimica's alleged role in the rubber cartel.
