Pa. Families Sue Over Alleged Fracking Contamination

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 5:02 PM EDT) -- Natural gas producer Southwestern Energy Co. is facing a lawsuit filed by 13 families in rural Pennsylvania who allege its hydraulic fracturing operations are contaminating their water wells and exposing them to hazardous chemicals.

The suit, filed Tuesday in the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas, alleged that Southwestern Energy and a subsidiary were negligent in the drilling and construction of a natural gas well in early 2008 and that they were also negligent in the well's operation.
