Mexico Takes Issue With Chinese Subsidies

Law360, New York (February 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Mexico has reportedly joined forces with the United States and Japan in accusing China of paying illegal subsidies to manufacturers.

In a complaint filed Monday with the World Trade Organization, Mexico alleged that state subsidies made many Chinese products especially cheap, which led to a loss of jobs and less competition at home, the Los Angeles Times reported.

In early February, the United States made a similar complaint to the WTO, saying China’s subsidies were prohibited by WTO rules.
