White House Backs Worker Misclassification Bill

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 6:59 PM EDT) -- The White House is throwing its weight behind new legislation from Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., that would close a tax loophole allowing businesses to misclassify workers as independent contractors.

The Fair Playing Field Act of 2010 was introduced in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate on Wednesday.
