President Nam Nguyen, who pled guilty in March to violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by engaging in a bribery scheme aimed at winning lucrative contracts with Vietnamese government agencies, has been hit with a 16-month prison term, well short of what prosecutors recommended.
Judge Timothy J. Savage of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania handed down sentences against Philadelphia-based export company Nexus, owner Nguyen, two of Nguyen's siblings and a former Nexus partner last week.
