House Proposal Would Give FDA Drug-Recall Power

Law360, New York (September 20, 2010, 5:15 PM EDT) -- A discussion draft of legislation that would beef up the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's authority and funding to regulate the importation of foreign-manufactured drugs was released Monday by Reps. John D. Dingell, D-Mich.; Henry A. Waxman, D-Calif.; Frank Pallone, D-N.J.; and Bart Stupak, D-Mich.

If passed, the legislation would also give the FDA the authority to mandate recalls for unsafe drugs.
