Severance Case Ends In Defeat For Beloit Workers

Law360, New York (September 22, 2010, 7:12 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has tossed a long-running lawsuit that accused the parent of a defunct Wisconsin pulp and paper machine manufacturer of tortiously interfering with its employees' contractual rights to severance.

Judge Leonard P. Stark of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware ruled Tuesday that the former Beloit Corp. employees had a contractual right to severance and that the company's parent, Harnischfeger Industries Inc., interfered with that contractual right.
