EPL Fails To Stick Petro With Oil Well Repairs

Law360, New York (September 23, 2010, 12:35 PM EDT) -- Wading into a $2.2 million oil well contract dispute between Energy Partners Ltd. and Petro Ventures Inc., a federal judge has refused to exonerate Energy Partners, the plaintiff, of responsibility for plugging a damaged well.

Judge Martin L.C. Feldman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana refused to grant Energy Partners summary judgment Wednesday on claims that a disputed farm-out agreement requires Petro Ventures, the rig's operator, to complete the repairs.
