Software Maker Sues Boston Scientific For Piracy

Law360, New York (March 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Pennsylvania software maker has sued the world’s largest supplier of medical devices for copyright infringement, claiming the company installed unauthorized copies of its software then belatedly bought licenses to cover its tracks.

The suit, filed Wednesday in Pennsylvania’s eastern district court, alleges Boston Scientific Corp. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Precision Vascular Systems Inc. tried to conceal its piracy by retrospectively buying 180 software licenses from Ability Systems Corp.
