Mattel Wants MGA Trade Secret Counterclaims Tossed

Law360, New York (September 24, 2010, 11:59 AM EDT) -- Mattel Inc. on Friday asked a federal court to strike recent counterclaims from MGA Entertainment Inc. alleging theft of trade secrets, the latest battle in the parties' long-running war over Bratz dolls.

MGA knew about the circumstances surrounding its newest allegations for years but waited until the "eleventh hour" to assert them, leaving Mattel without access to full discovery, the company said in a motion in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
