Lego Hit With TM Suit Over Toy Import Block

Law360, New York (September 24, 2010, 2:11 PM EDT) -- The maker of building block toys called Smarcks Smart Blocks has sued Lego Juris A/S for causing its toys to be detained at U.S. Customs and Border Protection over allegations that they infringe the Lego trademark.

San Marcos, Calif.-based Smart Blocks Inc. filed a complaint Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, asking for a declaratory judgment that the toys do not infringe Lego’s trademark and that the mark is invalid.
