FWS Withdraws Lexam Drilling Project Approval

Law360, New York (September 24, 2010, 5:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government has settled a challenge brought by two conservation groups over Lexam Exploration Inc.'s proposed oil and gas drilling in a national wildlife refuge, agreeing to withdraw its approval for the project and pay the groups $150,000 in legal fees.

In a settlement filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said it would withdraw all approvals and authorizations for oil and gas exploration in the Baca National Wildlife Refuge.
