Vastera Cleared Of Stealing Expeditors' Trade Secrets

Law360, New York (August 13, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal jury has cleared logistics facilitator Vastera of trade-secret misappropriation in a lawsuit brought by rival Expeditors International.

The jury from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (Southern Division) returned the August 5 unanimous verdict in favor of Vastera, attorneys for Vastera said.

The lawsuit was originally filed by Expeditors of Seattle, Wash., in March 2001 and contained principal allegations that Vastera had misappropriated Expeditors’ trade secrets at the time Vastera acquired Ford Motor Company's global customs import operations.
