Austria, Spain Hit Patent Prosecution Highway

Law360, New York (September 28, 2010, 1:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has announced new trial cooperation agreements with Austria and Spain as it continues to expand the Patent Prosecution Highway program in an effort to streamline the process of applying for patents around the globe.

The USPTO said Monday the pilot projects with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and Austrian Patent Office would begin Oct. 1 and last a year, with the option to extend the program an additional year or terminate it earlier depending on the success.
