DOJ Deputy Chief Of Staff Returns To Covington

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 5:36 PM EDT) -- James M. Garland will return to Covington & Burling LLP as a partner on Oct. 1 to resume his commercial litigation practice after a 20-month stint with the U.S. Department of Justice as deputy chief of staff and counselor to the attorney general.

Garland's departure from the DOJ in August followed an intensive period of round-the-clock labor with the federal agency as an interagency coordinator of President Barack Obama's wide-reaching justice policies.
