WTO Advances Toward Trade Agreement Transparency

Law360, New York (October 6, 2010, 5:08 PM EDT) -- The World Trade Organization is on track to approve a mechanism that will allow its members to scrutinize preferential trade arrangements.

The WTO's Committee on Trade and Development on Monday approved a proposal submitted by Brazil, China, India and the U.S. to establish a transparency mechanism for preferential trade arrangements.

Now that it has won committee approval, the proposal will be sent to the WTO General Council for adoption.
