EEOC Hits US Steel with ADA Suit

Law360, New York (October 5, 2010, 3:40 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has accused U.S. Steel Corp. of improperly requiring employees on probation to undergo random alcohol tests, and then firing an employee after administering that type of test.

In a lawsuit announced by the EEOC Tuesday, and filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the agency claimed that an ongoing U.S. Steel policy requiring random medical exams without sufficient reason violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.
