CFTC Enforcement Actions Up 14% In 2010

Law360, New York (October 6, 2010, 2:46 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission accelerated its crackdown on fraud in U.S. commodity and futures markets in 2010, reporting a 14 percent increase in the number of enforcement actions since 2009 and setting an all-time record for the number of new investigations launched.

The CFTC reported Tuesday that its enforcement program filed 57 enforcement actions during fiscal year 2010, representing a 14 percent increase over 2009 and a 42 percent jump from 2008 levels.
