Toyota, Honda, Others Sued Over Piston Patents

Law360, New York (October 6, 2010, 3:51 PM EDT) -- A nonprofit economic development group has accused Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and other automakers of infringing three patents that cover piston coating technology.

In a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, the National Institute for Strategic Technology Acquisition and Commercialization argues the companies manufactured and sold vehicle models, including the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Fit, that contain pistons that violate the patents-in-suit.
