Katten Muchin Avoids Ex-Leor CEO's Malpractice Claims

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 1:52 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed an intra-family lawsuit over the $2.55 billion sale of an oil and gas company that included legal malpractice claims against Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and one of its former partners.

In a Sept. 28 ruling largely adopting a magistrate judge's recommendation, Judge Patricia A. Seitz of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida dismissed all of Guma Aguiar's pleadings against Katten Muchin, former partner William Natbony, Leor Exploration & Production LLC and Leor founder Thomas Kaplan.
