Biotech Experts Urge Taiwan To Protect Drug Research Data

Law360, New York (October 10, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Biotech experts are urging Taiwan to protect research data on new uses for drugs with expired patents, the Taipei Times reported.

The comments were made by representatives of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations at a Taiwan-Europe government-level intellectual property rights seminar in Taipei.

Thailand has yet to offer a pledge on drug research data protection. So far Taiwan has no legislation to protect this kind of research. China, by contrast, offers six years of protection.
