Former New Orleans Housing CFO Gets 46 Months

Law360, New York (October 8, 2010, 3:18 PM EDT) -- A judge has sentenced a former executive at the Housing Authority of New Orleans to nearly four years in prison for embezzling more than $900,000 from the municipal agency.

Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on Thursday ordered former HANO Chief Financial Officer Elias Castellanos to serve 46 months in prison and pay some $226,000 in restitution.

Castellanos, who pled guilty in September 2009 to defrauding HANO, was also ordered to pay a fine of $75,000....
