Schlumberger Targeted In Yemen Bribe Probe

Law360, New York (October 8, 2010, 4:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly in the early stages of investigating allegations that oil services company Schlumberger Ltd. paid bribes to a consulting firm to get an oil field contract with the Yemeni government.

The investigation concerns contract payments that Schlumberger allegedly made to a consulting firm when the company was seeking approval from Yemen’s government to create an oil-exploration databank, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing two people familiar with the matter.
