Largest Workplace Class Action In History Advances

Law360, New York (March 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- On February 6, 2007, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed certification of the largest employment class action in American history.

In Dukes v. Wal-Mart Inc., the court overruled a long series of legal arguments raised by Wal-Mart and held that the district court properly certified a class of over 1.6 million women alleged to have been discriminated against in promotions and pay.
