3M Sues Sony, Lenovo Over Battery Patents

Law360 (March 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- 3M Co., inventor of ubiquitous brands such as Scotch Tape and Post-Its, zapped several technology companies on Wednesday with patent infringement lawsuits related to patents over lithium-ion batteries.

The Delaware-based company filed the suits in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and in the U.S. International Trade Commission.

It named Sony Corp., Lenovo Group Ltd., CDW Corp., Batteries COM LLC, Hitachi Ltd., Matsushita Industrial Electronic Co., Panasonic Corp., Total Micro Technologies Inc. and several of their subsidiaries as defendants.
