US, China Launch Joint Committee In Enviro Pact

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 2:16 PM EDT) -- The head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reached a deal with Chinese environmental regulators to expand the countries' collaboration on environmental protection, establishing a joint committee to track progress and plot future programs.

The memorandum of understanding, signed by EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson on her first official trip to China and by China's Minister of Environmental Protection Zhou Shengxian, also provides opportunities “distinct from existing agreements” for science and technology cooperation between the two world powers, EPA said Tuesday.
